Elliot Szabo - “The Train”

Elliot Szabo's latest song, “The Train,” is a stirring and emotive work of music that is truly an epic, in every sense. It is immediately apparent that this song is intended to capture and hold your attention from the very first notes.

A captivating groove is created by the guitar, playing creating a rhythm that could be related to a train moving on its tracks. A deep bass line pulses slowly underneath it. The song has a stormy mood that is heightened by the low and deep, dark piano tones.

More drive is added to “The Train” by a throbbing kick drum before the shuffling percussion launches into full steam, but the song’s most notable feature is the guitar solo. Other musical elements, like the bass and the organ, briefly play with the lead guitar, but never steal the limelight. The sheer epic scale of the solo, for me, is reminiscent of Dave Gilmour.

This is all before we get to the impressive vocal performance. The vocal begins with a telephone-like filter before quickly becoming clear and soulful, deepening the song’s emotional impact. You are definitely left wanting more as the song ends.

With “The Train” Elliot Szabo has created a work of music that is incredibly impressive. It is definitely epic and it is refreshing to hear a song with such a bold solo within it.
