Echo Northstar | strongboi | Jeremiah Moon
“Silent Fears,” by Echo Northstar, is a dreamy, indie-pop tune with heart. A driving drum loop invites you into the world of this track where a pleasant melody awaits, expressed with ethereal vocals that shift in and out of falsetto with an amiable flair.
The production has an understated ‘80s vibe, but it’s a familiarity that soothes and reminds me of the days when I bought cassette tapes of singles directly from the artists after discovering them at a gig. Synth pads and polite guitars fill out the sonic space nicely and leave me to get pensive with the thoughtful lyrics about letting go. Speaking of letting go, it’s time to abandon your silent fears and embrace your sonic bravery. Give this one a listen! Go on. You can do it! We’ll be here for you. -Mark Grider
Fans of delicious and funky indie-pop are absolutely going to love strongboi and their latest release, “cold.” In addition to its glorious bass groove, the lyrical content covers the longing for some fiery passion. Where people used to play Barry White and/or Marvin Gaye, they can now light the candles, pour the wine, and drop the needle on the sweet sounds of strongboi. And with the weather getting colder, this song will invite you right into the warmth of a wintery romance, or just a friendly conversation over hot cocoa– no pressure.
Be warned: Once you play this song, you will play very other song they’ve released and you will not be disappointed. This is easily one of our favorite finds for the week… probably for the entire year….
And just as quickly as we entered romance, let’s ditch it for a song that describes its inevitable demise. Thanks for nothing, Hollywood, ruining our lives with these false hopes and expecta... errrr… Seattle-based renaissance man Jeremiah Moon has got you covered in the “this is over” department, with his fresh track, “Housesitting,” a song “about the moment when a relationship starts to end.” Moon is a classically trained cellist, but after hearing his voice, you will assume that he is formally trained at everything, because this dude can f’ing sing. “Housesitting” comes from his recently released Sputnik EP, recorded in a remote cabin in Florence, OR. Have a listen and once those thick harmonies kick in, get ready to send us a ‘thank you’ card. You’re welcome, in advance.
