London-based Rishi Saluja, aka cryer mya, returns to the blog with the vivid psych-tinged indie folk track, “The Alien Remains.”

Lyrically, “The Alien Remains,” as described by cryer mya, “explores the feeling of alienation to your own emotions in the wake of grief.” Musically, what he has created is something that is immersively sparse, gentle, like some gem that has been unearthed from a desert landscape. You feel as if you are being mesmerised by the intricate fingerpicked acoustic guitar that allows shimmering texture to tenderly radiate onto your ears.

Locked in tight by a dusty syncopated drum groove and filled out by the warm, breathy glow of mellotron, distant neon synths and fluid electric guitar lines, the music is simply a pleasure to play on repeat.

Complemented by cryer mya’s signature weightless vocal, that consistently beckons you to get lost in every composition he pulls from the ether. you can only come to the conclusion you are listening to something exceptionally special. Hushed, fragile and with fine harmonies, he doesn’t demand your attention but instead weaves and flows through the delicate layers.

Enveloping, spectral and sublimely tender, “The Alien Remains” is definitely worthy of a spot on your own personal playlists. Connect with cryer mya: Spotify | Instagram | TikTok
