Cholly - ‘The Daydream’

The electronic and oftentimes experimental artist known as Cholly has offered up a couple tracks from her EP, The Daydream. Cholly is an artist who has taken the misfortune of repetitive injuries to utilize vocal layering, while turning the sounds of life into the contents of her music– which turns out quite nicely for those of us on the listening end of the process. “The Swimming Pool” is melancholy at its core, but its peaceful and melodic tones of layered vocals make it feel like one of those summer days where it rains just enough to cool you off, but not enough to ruin your plans.

Are You Real” was released ahead of “The Swimming Pool” and is very convincingly another chapter to the same melodic story, the way that Bret Easton Ellis will sometimes have his characters wave to those in his other novels. This track continues further with Cholly’s motifs of electronic experimentation and vocal layering, a signature of which she should be proud.

Along with her song submission, Cholly also included a video to a quick live performance that offers a glimpse into her process and, at the same time, showcases her talent.
