Chad Bault - “When It All Burns Down”

Chad Bault is ready to accept the metaphorical life-arson charges in “When It All Burns Down.” We’ve all been there, feeling like everything would be better if it went up in flames and down in ashes. A perfect steel guitar wails plaintively along heartfelt vocals that cry out in hope and pain. Joined by some tasteful background harmony, this song expands– beautifully crescendoing in a bridge that will carry you over the widest, deepest, most treacherous of emotional rivers. And this is so rich in emotion: melancholy, longing, hopeful, remorseful, and all those other relatable feelings that tug at the heart strings while a songwriter tugs at their guitar strings. This is the place my heart goes when I listen, and it’s the reason I will listen again.
