Cassia - “Confidence” (ft. Tayo Sound)
If you’ve been reading our blog posts lately, you’ll notice that this next track has very little in common with many of the tunes we’ve been featuring. But, as life has shown us over and over again, it’s important to leave your options open. So rather than pigeonhole ourselves into being a blog that is only host to indie folk and indie rock, allow us to introduce you to Cassia.
We just realized that some of you may already know who they are because, unlike us, you have cultured yourselves with a wider range of music. But, for those in the dark, Cassia hail from the UK and the most we know about them is that they have “tropical vibes” but are “not tropical guys.” The alt pop track that they’ve just released, featuring Tayo Sound, is bound to lend some rays of sunshine to an otherwise bleak and chilly November day. Their new song, “Confidence,” is what it might sound like if you rolled summer into one melodious romp. It’s packed with a laid-back, yet danceable rhythm that bounces its way along with the lyrics, offering “a reminder of the importance of helping friends and family navigate their way through challenging moments in life.”
We’ve had this song playing on repeat for the past couple of days, wondering how we would go about describing it when it rests so far outside of our wheelhouse. But the answer is quite simple: music is often designed to stir up emotions within the listener. And while we generally focus on darker subject matter, it is very important to come up for air from all of that, so we pressed play and started typing because “Confidence” will definitely refill the lungs of all who listen.
About the track, Cassia say, “When we came together we really wanted to write a song that we could all identify with and that we could have some fun with. This track is about building others up through bouts of insecurities and low self-esteem; or on the flip side, having someone to lean on when you’re going through it yourself. We’re all a little more on the introverted side, so wanted to delve into the bizarre and cyclical thoughts that run through your mind.”
