B.Miles - “Emergency Contact”

New York-based B.Miles has just revealed the enchanting dream pop single, “Emergency Contact,” a song that sifts through the remains of a relationship in order to find empowerment in independence.

After a brief, electronically-imbued intro, “Emergency Contact” bursts to life with a moderately paced rhythm that supports the subdued, lo-fi strums of a guitar. The sound is immediately chill and introspective, yet bouncy enough to get your feet tapping.

B.Miles allows her vocal performance to begin immediately, and listeners shall find themselves immersed in the story of a narrator who’s found herself in a doctor’s waiting room. Her voice is flawless and captivating as she reveals the agony of no longer having anyone to list as an emergency contact.

And maybe you’ve been lucky and have always had a name and number to fill that box, but please note that this song can still be enjoyed by all. Highlights include a mesmerizing dynamic shift before the final refrain in which B.Miles reveals her stunning, breathy falsetto. From the gentle and dreamy nature of its rhythm, to the shining and emotive vocal performance, “Emergency Contact” is the perfect song to add to those playlists reserved for late-night roadtrips to nowhere.

About the track, B.Miles adds: “I moved across the country from my family many years ago and depended on my significant other during my 20s to be my emergency contact. When we split up as I entered my 30s, I had a quick realization that without them in my life, there was nobody I could consider to be another choice. Adding another layer to that is, in reality, your old ‘emergency contact’ is still around - and you can still technically reach out to them - but there’s a fear that holds you back from doing so.”

After the release of her LP, Different Pages, we are hoping that “Emergency Contact” means that B.Miles plans to reveal a new album. Until then, please join us in giving this tune a hefty amount of spins. And if you’re in the Los Angeles area, catch her live at The Moroccan Lounge on May 25.
