Blue Goose - “Abigail”

Blue Goose from the United Kingdom have just released the brilliant chamber pop track, “Abigail.”

Abigail” is a lush, rich, multilayered track that walks in the same footsteps of Brian Wilson at his most introspective and unconventional, shifting effortlessly from the dreamlike Pet Sounds to the more offbeat Smiley Smile, but never feeling fragmented or too abstract. Blue Goose have not quite got to the stage of ordering a pile of sand to be placed under the piano just yet… though I would like to hear that vibe.

The track is not groove heavy in the typical rhythmic sense, but, instead, ebbs and flows with a gentle, immersive quality, shifting like a leisurely turn of a kaleidoscope. Intricate, soaring, cinematic and emotionally resonant orchestrations flair up throughout, glazing “Abigail“ in a classical gloss. Percussively, we also get a playful, dynamically quirky treat. Guitar is, perhaps, the only element that shifts away from the Brian Wilson lysergic playbook, being deployed rhythmically over the more intense areas of the track.

Vocally, we are indulged with multilayered harmonies that build from warm, grounded baritone ranges to stacks of angelic falsetto swells. Playful and whimsical to very intense, “Abigail“ is a masterclass on emotional nuance and harmonic sophistication as we are led through an evocative lyrical narrative.

Exciting and well-produced, “Abigail” is a pleasing treat for fans of the progressive end of The Beach Boys and chamber pop. Connect with Blue Goose: Spotify | Instagram | Website | Bandcamp
