Bec Sandridge - ‘Lost Dog’
Bec Sandridge has returned with her 5-track EP, Lost Dog and John Michie breaks it down for you:
“Easy To Go Bad” – acts as a window into the creative environment Sandridge occupies. The song is personal and captivating, but is also notably darker than the rest of the EP. This song uses some incredibly inventive and beautiful vocal effects. It is neatly organised, simplifying the arrangement to the absolute minimum. What's left sounds fantastic. The song is cheerful and big.
“Cost Of Love” – Has Haim-ish vibes. It signals a shift for the EP, which dives headfirst into the pop genre. Glossy synths surround the vocal melody. The song has a lovely depth.
“The Jetty”’ is the penultimate song and is built on a catchy, powerful, consistent beat. At this point, with this EP, Sandridge has fully embraced the synthpop sound and made it unique. I also like the guitar undertones that fill the spaces.
“Claustrophobia” - In terms of production, I believe this one is the most intriguing. This effectively highlights the fuzzed percussion and glitchy, spliced-up vocals that are strewn throughout this EP. It's a powerful pop song.
