Attawalpa - “Look Away”

Attawalpa, a.k.a British Peruvian musical maven, Luis Felber, has arrived with his new song, “Look Away.” This thing is an instant earworm… beautifully produced and balanced. Attawalpa’s vocal is soft and mellow, but this suits the temperament of the song perfectly. Harmonious backing vocals drift throughout the song. Drenched in reverb, it creates an ethereal atmosphere. Unusual synth sounds perfectly add to the dreamy atmospherics. The other element is an acoustic guitar that locks with the shaker noise that is reminiscent of a Pulp track, but I can’t, off the top of my head, remember which one. I hear the influences of Radiohead and Suede in this beautiful song.

Attawalpa’s take on this great piece of work is: "Lyrically, it comes from a feeling I would (and still do) tackle in my day-to-day: the inability to express my feelings in the moment, the inability to say no when I want to say no. It's a work in progress and people are complex. To sail through life, we have to be honest with our feelings as we get them. Dealing with dissociation most of my life, I find this song to be a good reminder and it all falls under the album title ‘Presence’. We are not alone and all we have is our ability to make choices.”

Attawalpa’s debut album, Presence, will be available on October 7th. Be sure not to miss it.
