Artemis Aether - “Fail On, Phaethon”

“Fail On, Phaethon” is the lead single from Artemis Aether's forthcoming album, Seeker. The song sounds a lot like Nick Cave crossed with Blur 13-era, with a hint of later Talk Talk… and also has a stoner rock vibe from the mid-1990s Britpop scene... so this may also be a song for fans of The Verve’s A Northern Soul album.

This tune has some pretty fascinating, dynamic breaks and changes that are both continually changing while also maintaining the same musical structure. “Fail On, Phaethon” is a compelling work of art that makes excellent use of delay, guitar licks, and other noises. A rising and falling piano hook that practically repeats throughout the song serves as its core foundation. The song is both original and artistic, and it continues offering more. I am a fan!

The lyrics are based on the fabled figure of Phaethon, Helios's overlooked son who battled to drive the sun chariot, but was punished for the destruction he caused. It serves as a commentary on the dwindling historical ideal of conventional manhood in the modern world.
