ARK IDENTITY - “I’m Done Living”
Toronto-based Noah Mroueh, aka ARK IDENTITY, has just released his new EP, Anndale, so we decided to take a look at the closing indie rock track: “I’m Done Living.”
“I’m Done Living” is a delightfully mellow and intimate track that effortlessly builds in emotional intensity and atmosphere through simple but effective musical layers. Over the steady rhythm of the drums and warm bass, clean, airy acoustic guitar leads us through the composition. Restrained, spacious, and reflective ambient trails of lead guitar deepen the introspective mood, caressing the composition much the same as Jonny Buckland’s soloing on Coldplay’s Parachutes.
ARK IDENTITY delivers one of his most gorgeous, heartfelt vocal performances that we have heard so far to date. Soft, whispered in places, the performance is elegantly vulnerable and tender in all the right ways. On the track Mroueh adds: “We are all constantly evolving, becoming new versions of ourselves. All of us have an inner child and past self. This song is about saying goodbye to that part of you and declaring “I’m done living that way” and moving on to the next stage.”
“I’m Done Living” is a track of remarkable depth. It is accomplished but beautifully subtle, with clean production and shining organic sounds.
