Deathcruiser - “afterglow in ohio”

In light of the recent chemical spill in East Palestine, Ohio, Deathcruiser has released “afterglow in ohio,” with all proceeds from the track going to charity. And while we are more than happy to spread the word of his generosity, we would not do so if the song itself was not topnotch (spoilers: it’s fantastic).

Deathcruiser last appeared on our blog with “Superman,” a delightfully stripped-back indie-folk number. And with his latest, “afterglow in ohio,” we are very pleased to inform you that he’s left this vibe completely intact. It begins with some piano, drenched in reverb, pounding out the roots of the arrangement, but listeners do not have to wait long before Deathcruiser’s raw and heartfelt delivery unfolds. Other than his remarkable knack for crafting a song, his voice is what originally won us over in the first place.

afterglow in ohio” crescendos very naturally as it proceeds, with the addition of several instruments along the way, including guitar and some soft percussive elements. The spotlight, however, falls upon the hook, which is simply the song’s title, repeated in a cinematic, gang-vocal type of way, before ultimately resolving in Deathcruiser’s incredible falsetto. This is one of those instances where you could literally harness the emotional energy of the song to power a small city and we are more than happy to feature it here.

Feel free to do your part: add it to a playlist and give it some spins.
